Nutritional yeast is made from the same organisms, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, used in the beer industry. The difference is that the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is not from beer production but is fed with molasses and is specially grown for a dietary supplement. The yeast is deactivated, dried and ground into flakes. It has nutty flavor and reminds of cheese / yellow cheese. Enriched with B vitamins and zinc. Directions for use: Dissolve 1 tsp (3 g) in liquid or add to sauces, soups, salads to enrich their flavour. Use in vegan recipes instead of white or parmesan cheese. Nutritional yeast is often used to flavour popcorn.
