Russian salad was first introduced in 1860. the original recipe of Lucien Olivier, chef at the renowned Moscow restaurant. The exact recipe and in particular that of the dressing was a jealously guarded secret. It is known that the salad is cooked meat from the pheasant, veal tongue, caviar, lettuce, crab, pickled cucumbers and boiled eggs. According to other sources, there were truffles, fish, smoked duck, but certainly not contained potatoes, which are today one of the main ingredients of the salad. Over time, her popularity grew, but since much of its ingredients were rare, were gradually replaced by more common and affordable. So it came to today's Russian salad, which we would call ordinary and very popular in our case made with love.
